CCR Podcasts
Our only
podcast (at the moment) is CCRPod, which is a podcast
offering general discussion regarding the Kingship of
Christ, what it means, and how the CCR helps its members live it out in
the world. There may, in the future, be additional podcasts
on offer here.
Fasting is a necessary part of Christian spirituality, and thus is a necessary part of Christ the King, which asks all its members to fast at least once a week, on Fridays. This episode discussed the purposes of fasting, with emphasis on the discipline of the body and its submission to the soul, and on the use of fasting to help the poor.
We all know why Christ is our King; but why is Mary our
Queen? We briefly explain why Mary has always been
venerated by Christians; why she should be venerated as
our Queen, as Christ should be venerated as our King; and
how the CCR in particular
fulfils this obligation of a Christian.
Translations and what they mean for the
doctrine of Christ the King. In this
episode, we discuss translations,
particularly the CCR's translations
of certain papal encyclicals and why we
bothered to make them. We briefly discuss
the problems with the transcriptions of the
Latin texts on the Vatican website, then at
somewhat more length a few genuine problems
with the Vatican translation of Immortale
Dei. We use this to explain a little of
the history of the doctrine of Christ the
King, as well as a few points of doctrine.
Finally, we close with a brief recounting
of the CCR's policy on translations.
In this episode, we discuss the date of the feast
of Christ the King: when it is, why it is where it is, and
where it should be. We briefly discuss the new “Feast of
Jesus Christ, King of All Things”, and why its place in the
liturgical calendar is problematic. The feast of Christ the
King, we conclude, is and should be on the last Sunday of
October.
In this episode, we discuss the scope of Christ's kingship
in time; that is, is He our King right here and right
now, or is His kingship something that we must wait to see
until He comes again, at the last day? We show that Christ is,
in fact, King yesterday, today, and forever, and explain what
our duty is in light of this fact.
In this episode, we go back to the very basics: Who is
Christ the King? What is facially a very easy question
turns out to involve a lot more than many think.
Acknowledging Christ the King is a profound, life-changing
act; we discuss on what the kingship of Christ is based, how
we must acknowledge it, and how that acknowledgement should
change our lives.
In this episode, we briefly review what is wrong with the
world, and then call our listeners to action: to follow
Christ the King, to join the Confraternity and do His work!
“Why should lasting things tremble when transient things
fall?” asked St. Prosper of Aquitaine, and the social reign
of Christ the King could likewise ask that of all its modern
challenges. Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus
imperat!
