Cover for the Christ Our King

The Feast of Christ the King was established by Pope Piux XI for a very specific reason. Just as the feast of Corpus Christi was established to remind us all to worship Christ in the Blessed Sacrament, so the feast of Christ the King was established to remind us to worship Christ as our King.

This short booklet, undated but evidently published very shortly after the promulgation of Quas Primas (and therefore the establishment of the feast), gives an excellent overview of how the Jews in Christ's time viewed kingship; how Christ embodies and perfects that kingship; and the purpose of the foundation of the feast by the holy pope.

Christus vincit! Christus regnat! Christus imperat!
