Comes” is the Latin word for friend or comrade, and we in the CCR typically translate it as “comrade” for that reason. A comes is thus a comrade, a friend, of the CCR; he prays for us, he supports our work, but he is not himself a full-scale part of it.

The comrade prays and fasts; that is his vital contribution to the Confraternity's work.

The comes's primary contribution to the work of the CCR is prayer and fasting. He makes only three promises in regards to how he helps the CCR:

Prayer and fasting are by far the most important things that a Catholic can do in life itself; they are certainly the most important part of contributing to the work of the CCR.

If you are interested in becoming a comes to help the CCR in this way, visit our joining center and get started.
